Peripherally inserted central catheter, The CancerBACUP Factsheet:"This factsheet gives information about peripherally inserted central catheters, which are often called PICC lines. We hope that it will answer any questions that you may have about your PICC. If you have any further questions please talk to your doctor or nurse.
What is a PICC line?
A PICC is a long, thin, flexible tube known as a catheter. It is inserted into one of the large veins of the arm near the bend of the elbow. It is then pushed into the vein until the tip sits in a large vein just above your heart." ******************************************************

What is a P.I.C.C. line? Plymouth Oncology Centre:"A PICC line is a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter which are placed by named nursing staff within the Plymouth Oncology Centre. It will save you the discomfort of repeated injections." ****************************************************** Infection Control:
Infection Control Guidelines
Preventing Infections Associated with Indwelling Intravascular Access Devices:"Many terms have been used to describe intravascular device-associated infections (IVDAI) over the years. The multitude of terms and definitions has led to confusion and difficulty comparing the results of clinical studies and comparing data between hospitals.
Contamination of infusate as a cause of IVDAI is exceedingly uncommon today, and for practical purposes definitions that are used for surveillance need not include contaminated infusate.
A clinical diagnosis of IVDAI is often very difficult, particularly when immunocompromised patient populations are involved (neutropenic cancer patients, neonates, intensive care unit patients), when blood culture results are limited, or when appropriate cultures of intravascular device (IVD) tips or IVDs have not been obtained." ****************************************************** Personal Homepages:
Picc Lines:"So, you've been told you'll be having a PICC Line inserted. What does it mean? What will it do? How does it work? All sorts of questions, and hopefully, here are some of the answers for you.
A PICC is a long, flexible tube that is put into a vein in your arm and threaded up into a large vein just above your heart. It is used for giving fluids or drug treatment into your bloodstream. PICC stands for "Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter"."

Nurses' Station:"The idea for the Nurses' Station Catalog was conceived in 1989. After searching the marketplace in response to customer inquiries, it became obvious that there were no catalogs of this type serving the nursing profession. To be sure, there were several catalogs offering nurse's uniforms and a smattering of professional items. But there weren't any catalogs at the time offering a range of gifts, clothing, professional items, name badges, shoes and scrubs for nurses. It took two years of hard work to gather samples and put a together a catalog of the most unique and high-quality items for nurses."
