Nursing News:
New Law Helps West Virginia Nurses:"More than 10,000 West Virginia nurses saw a four-year struggle end when Gov. Bob Wise signed into law a measure that bars private hospitals from forcing its nurses to work overtime.
"We cannot ask nurses to work hours on end, jeopardizing patient and employees lives," Gov. Wise said at the Feb. 25 signing ceremony.
The new law says that nurses cannot work more than 12 continuous hours without having at least eight hours off. It makes exceptions for disease outbreaks, terrorist attacks and natural disasters. Scheduled to take effect on May 17, the law also requires nurses to work overtime to complete a task already started."
