November 7, 2000: Nebraksa: Plagued by shortages, nurses face new challenges:"Nurses in Nebraska face almost insurmountable problems, several local nurses said. A shortage of nurses, an increase in the acuity of patient illness, technological advances and 12-hour shifts linked to medical mistakes contribute to a stressful environment.

Critical Issues In Healthcare:"Today, Nebraska is faced with many challenging issues related to health and health care. Traditional programs and their funding sources are being cut back or eliminated, while the needs of people seem greater than ever. The way that health care is financed and delivered is changing rapidly, and we will have to work together in new ways to assure that scarce resources are used as effectively as possible and that the most important needs of our citizens are being met. This requires change--in how we think about problems, how we exchange ideas, and how we work together to create and implement new solutions. It is important to assist communities in their understanding of how to forge new partnerships and how to manage the changes that lie ahead for Nebraska. ****************************************************** ****************************************************** Nursing Topics, A to Z: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z

Nurses' Station:"The idea for the Nurses' Station Catalog was conceived in 1989. After searching the marketplace in response to customer inquiries, it became obvious that there were no catalogs of this type serving the nursing profession. To be sure, there were several catalogs offering nurse's uniforms and a smattering of professional items. But there weren't any catalogs at the time offering a range of gifts, clothing, professional items, name badges, shoes and scrubs for nurses. It took two years of hard work to gather samples and put a together a catalog of the most unique and high-quality items for nurses."
